| Out of the mouths

| During the latter part of 2001, Amy, my
nine years old grandaughter, said that she would like to know Stephen's
children, Lauren and Marcus. Liane agreed with her and John phoned Stephen who
also thought it a good idea. The four children, with John and Stephen, met at a
local park and had a wonderful afternoon. Some weeks later Stephen brought
Lauren and Marcus to our house and Amy and Polly joined them. They acted as if
they had never been apart. I was hoping that Stephen would stop but he did not
come in at all. |
| I told John how
disappointed I was and he arranged for Stephen to work with him for a few days,
during which time he brought up the subject of coming to see me. He didn't make
any arrangements but suddenly turned up that very weekend. Nothing was said
about the past and our conversation seemed as normal as ever, he has called in
a couple of times since (it is now January 7th 2002) and has phoned. |
| I don't know if
our relationship will ever be the same as it was but, thanks to the common
sense of Amy, things are definitely improving. I have been stubborn, stupid,
unwilling to make matters better, but I am so happy now. My 'couldn't care less
'attitude was just a front, I never did stop loving or missing Stephen. What I
didn't realise, until they came back to me, was how much I had missed the
children. They are delightful and I am so pleased that they will grow up with
all of their grandparents. |
| Thank you Amy for bringing
me to my senses. Thank you Liane for always being there. |
